Mossberg MVP and savage barrel swap

Does anyone know if the Savage barrels will thread onto the Mossberg MVP....I like the fact that the Mossberg takes AR-15 magazines, kinda neat. Thank you in advance for any advice or guidance.

Very Respectfully

I can't say for sure, but I have heard they won't swap. Don't take it to the bank, do some searching.

I literally just handled one and the receiver is sized to a .223 cartridge. I do not think the barrel shank is large enough to accommodate a standard Savage barrel tenon. I could be wrong but it looked a lot like a CZ 527 sized receiver. I am thinking about modifying one for XC in 6mm Hagar. The stock is a good target shape, just needs some adjustment hardware and a rail.

A gunsmith I know swapped one to a 300 Blackout. He said it does not interchange with Savage barrels even though it uses a nut similar to a Savage.

mossberg and savage are not interchangable mossberg is .875 28 tpi . the mossberg mvp rifles just beg to be made into 300 whisper are blackout i made mine into a blackout 18 inch barrel and it is a blast to shoot with a suppressor. have put a bunch of suppressed rounds thru mine feeds great from all ar magazines i have tried actually the cheaper the magazine the better it feeds . when i rebarreled mine i got rid of the nut and just mounted barrel like a remington are any other rifle without a nut . mossberg mvp is a good solid rifle

i had just recently bought my son a MVP to get started in mid-range f/tr. I was very skeptical of the purchase at first, but it was the only rifle that fit the basic parameters ( i.e. .223, at least a 1-9 twist, heavier barrel, decent stock, adjustable trigger) that was anywhere near the price range I could afford at the time to get him shooting with me at matches. Basically everything else in this price range falls within the varmint round barrel twist range, or has a thin barrel and/or crappy trigger. I have to say that it is the best dang shooting $500 rifle I've ever bought! I personally shot a .231 moa five shot 100 yrd group that was immediately followed up by a 5 shot .334 moa at 100 (shot ten consecutive shots at two different dots uninterrupted and measured on OnTarget program centre to centre) with a 63gr Sierra SMP and Varget load. Haven't had time to really do much work up on a heavy load, but he shot 77gr SMK seated .015 off the lands on top of 23.7gr of Varget in his first match. That bullet shows promise, but I just ordered up a bunch of 75gr A-maxes to try and work on.
I know this was a lil off topic, but I cant sing the praises enough about this lil bargain store gun.
