Mossberg M44 US Property

I have a Mossberg m44 US property.
This is a side mount sight.
It has an s100 peep sight but the holes center to center are drilled at 5/8 in which evidently was what Lyman peep sight used at the beginning of production.
Without drilling any holes I want to remove the peep sight and add a scope base but I need one that is 5/8 in center to center.
There are ones out there that are center to center 1 and 5/8 in which I can't use.
Does anyone know if anything is available out there as a scope base which has 5/8 inch center to center holes that I can mount some rings and a scope to?

Appreciate anyone that can provide any insights.
Bob

there were a bunch of models of the Mossberg 44. Numrich has a bunch of parts for them and list a scope mount. have no idea if it will work with yours though:

Edit: Just looked and the Non-civilian version was not drilled and tapped for a scope.

I just pulled mine out of the gun case and It's 1 5/8s like you said. But I see no reason you could not drill a few new holes(maybe only one) in the aluminum mount to keep from altering your rifle receiver. Its flat on that side and would be easy to do I think unless I am missing something. My mount came from Hamlin.

Hamlin has them or did . What mode suffix if any after the 44 US ?
Dont redrill the rifle just find a weaver side mount if Hamlin doesn’t carry them anymore , and redrill the side mount .
Weaver side mounts are 2 pieces , the mount and a separate piece long or short , ring .

Redrilling the side mount is a very good thought.
Thanks ggmac

Gary has worked on many of my rifles, we have shoot together on many occasions. Why would you think you could lecture me on Gary? Ive been in his shop only moments after a barrel slide. Have you ever had a QB78 shootout over Gary's swimming pool. Well you haven't lived, and only think you know Gary.

Wasn't meant to be a lecture to any one. Was an public acknowledgement of his helpful post and his willingness to help.

Only know Gary from his post and an inquiry to him for a 1911 hardened match slide he had for sale. You are fortunate to know him personally. No intention to offend anyone my comments were meant as reinforcement to Gary's recommendation and your acknowledgement of the wisdom of his idea.

Came by a Drake slide that followed a retired armorer home years ago then sold the 1911 it was on to a long time friend. Hope you are well!

Oh the good times !

Aging painfully but enjoying every minute.
Thank you , Gary
Understand! I am guessing you have a little seniority on me and with 76 coming up in June I am learning about everything from arthritis to A-Fib. Beats the alternative and 4 grand kids of hunting and shooting age keep things interesting.
