More suppressor questions

Sorry for another question that has been answered in previous post. I just don’t dont know what products have been offed since some of the older post on the subject and I don’t want to cludder up some one else’s post.

I know next to nothing about them as I have never owned one. I hope to have the money in the next couple of weeks to send in paperwork. I think I have settled on a silencerco omega 300. I want something high quality and versatile to shoot on wide range of rifles. Will mostly be on 260, 6.5 Creedmoor and 308.

For those of you that own one and or have experience, would this be a good choice?
It reads that they are sealed, will that be an issue for carbon build up and cleaning?
Any other advice?

The only reason I’m interested in one is that I have to shoot from a pretty close proximity from my house (shooting away from house) and it sounds like a truck running into the back wall when I do shoot. I mean that’s not the only reason but the main one. Any help is appreciated.

I can't think of any of the center fire cans that are not sealed. Usually only 22LR cans are able to be broken down for cleaning. Look on line for some ideas on cleaning, they are out there.

SiCo is a good company, as is TBAC and a few others.

I got 2 SiCo's out of jail in the last few months. (Hybrid and a Warlock) and so far I'm happy with them

Cool, see I told you I was a rookie on this I did not know all of them are still sealed. Thank you sir for the reply

A larger 30 cal can make a good start. You can shoot a bunch of calibers out of it and get pretty good results.

I’m also a Tbac guy. The one that turns the most heads when I shoot it is my 6.5 ultra 7

I've used a Mack Bros 3.0 Varminter that disassembled for cleaning. Used a Harbor Freight sonic cleaner. Carbon pored out as soon as u hit the on switch. Cones clean up bright as new. However beware of the sonic cleaning lifting the Cerakote on the engraving.......

I've bead blasted all of mine cause of that.
All TBACs

I like my Omega even though a weld failed once and sent 3 baffles downrange. There have been plenty of complaints about the QD mount but I use the direct thread feature exclusively so it hasn't been a problem for me.

FWIW I hear they don't come apart like mine did anymore. I guess they changed how they weld the baffles together.

For your first center fire rifle suppressor, get a .30 cal, as you can shoot anything else that is smaller thru it and you probably wont notice much difference in dB level. I have SiCo and DeadAir and I like them both. Stay with a company that will hopefully be around for a while so you have the customer service. For 22lr use, the DeadAir Mask is the best I have used/have, and I have quite a few of them. The 22 ones are user servicable. I have never messed with cleaning a rifle one, as they tend to shoot hot enough its not a big deal.

I agree with the recommendations to get a 30 cal can for your first. As the name implies, you can shoot them on anything 30cal on down, and it'll basically give you the same level of suppression on smaller caliber cartridges. QD mounts are convenient, but they're expensive, and mounting can stick etc.

I also agree that SiCo, Dead Air, and TBAC are the companies to look at. I'm real happy with my SilencerCo Omega, but it's not like there's a massive sound difference between any of the 30 cal cans.

Find one with good customer support, and a good reputation.

I have that exact suppressor. I use on everything from 17's to 30's. Anything below .260 cal I pull brake and put on end cap. Highly recommend and couldn't be happier at this time. Very good place to start. IMO.

20181028_201623_resized.jpg YHM Phantom 30 cal with QD mount.
Weight 1 pound 10 ounces.
Primary use on multiple AR15's
It is heavy but works well. I dont stand and shoot much so no issue there.
Sound reduction of this one. 30 can on 223 is good. No hearing protection does not ring ears. I wear my protection any way.
The YHM Phantom may be purchased with 5/8 28 thread or with a proprietary crap resistant coarse thread muzzle brake with a very useful non stick detent mechanism to prevent jamming or loosening of the item during use.
I thought it wise to leave the QD mounting devices in place on my ar barrels so as not to risk barrel thread damage. This means multi adapter purchases. My shooting friend screws his suppressor on the different barrels directly with no issues. Please check tightness during use. Oh that rascal gets warm quick so be careful.
I have a 6mm Remington awaiting barrel threads so the 30 cal first purchase was a wise move.
My mistake was to purchase 2 identical units, sequential serial numbers even. The idea being a shooting companion wouldnt have to do without.
There are xray pics of multiple cans on some websites. Take a look. Its just a high pressure muffler. Simple is good. Easy to build solid and easier to clean if that becomes necessary.
You will not be sorry in the long run.
Come up to okc and shoot mine!
Buy your choice. There are surely nicer ones out there now.
Good luck

Did they warranty it after it came apart?

The negative with the QD adapters is that they seem to get sticky and not want to let the suppressor go. I had one that just simply would not release the can. So, being the impatient SOB that I am, I put a round in the chamber, got the muzzle level with the ground about 6 inches above it and let er rip. Can went about 10 feet. Wiped it off, put it on the next rifle and back in business. You will not mess up the threads if you are reasonably careful putting them on and off...just dont cross thread them and keep threadprotectors on there when you aint got the can on there.

I can, and do, "quick attach" my omega on my ar's or direct thread onto my bolt actions. Looks similiar to what rustytigwire posted. Very simple. Does require some additional equipment. All of them(suppressors)do I might add.

20181028_201720_resized-1.jpg The device threads are clean and easy to unscrew but the circumfrential ridges on the muzzle device outside diameter are becoming carbon encrusted to the point where can removal is stubborn and takes some twist n pull. Grin = many many boolits!
Currently spending a week wrapped in kroil rag in attempt to soften.
