Thankfully I had a lot of supplies on hand to keep my hobby going. Here are some pics of the stock I'm making for my .223 project. I've had this blank for probably 30 years and finally using it . It's laminated walnut, last pic is 10 coats wipe on poly ,I'll let it dry a week and do another 10 after sanding .Picture 007.jpg Picture 012.jpg Picture 013.jpg Picture 021.jpg Picture 027.jpg

i like how you ground that wing bit and turned it upside down to cut your barrel/action channel. I have a similar setup as yours with a mill drill to do stocks. Thats quite a jump from pic 1 to pic 2. Alot of work between the two. Nice Job. I just used some of my time to bed a rifle last night.

Good eye, there a lot cheaper than core box bits. Besides I'm on lockdown Have to use what I have. They work on aluminum too (slowly)

Is that a whole stock from billet? Whew, that's a lot of material!

I use a core box router for cutting my barrel channels. Cheap China ones hold up fine in the laminates and softwoods: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K5M5BV1/?tag=accuratescom-20 I don't spin them terribly fast in my little mill drill, generally 800rpm. They'd like to be spun faster but I'm uncomfortable with that given how close to my body they are. Maybe it's a unnecessary concern, but I have the same feeling when spinning big single point fly cutters too. Go as slow as you can while still achieving an adequate surface finish!

Haha, those don't look like any pistols I'm used too :p. Barrels are about an inch to big and a foot too long! I think I would more appropriately call those hand cannons.
