Mole stalking

I understand peoples obssesions with moles, they are a true pain in the ass. Luckily I have a wonderful dog that takes care of that for me now. I have about 3 acres and if she can't satisfy herself in that area she just goes out into the farmground. Luckily family or close friends own and farm the ground. There was a lady that I used o work with at a large factory that set up shop w/a 20 ga single barrell. She would sit in a chair where she knew them to be working and would nail them to the wall when she saw the ground move. She has passed away now but when I think of her it is sitting in her yard from 7-11 mornings. (we were on nights)

Hand to hand is the only satisfying way (shovel). They are 4” back BTW from the dirt moving.
I usually get in front of the direction they're moving and angle about 25 deg right when they nudge up...pow sometimes I miss..why I was thinkin shotgun

I have farmland and live in farm country so there are 1000s diggin toward my house from all directions 24 hrs a day....kinda like fighting the Chinese never ending

There are feed areas and travel runways. You can catch tons in one spot if you put a trap on the travel runways.

gopher bomb,"black powder" 18 to 20 inches of fuse, when you see them moving dirt push it in as far as you can pack the dirt down lite the fuse walk away. If the blast don't get them
the smoke will. Great entertainment value.

So as not to waste too much time, the little sobs usually are pushing out dirt about 10AM. My favorite method of termination involves a lawn chair, and a Judge w/3" 410 bird shot. 3 1/2" 12ga turkey rounds work good too. If you have irritable neighbors, use a manual thumping device of your choice.

When the boys were still home we used 22s and a old single shot 12 ga. which we didn't care if it got a little dirt splatter on the muzzle. Talk about a smoking hole. Now I just use traps and all the fun is gone.

I use a cutting torch Plumbed to a propane tank and an oxygen tank small chunk of pipe push it down in the runway let the gas and oxygen go for about a minute at full bore through the pipe screw the cap on and a piece of Cannon fuse shoved down along the outside of the pipe into the runway quite entertaining and nothing survives

Had Wife's Grand Mother tell me Moles and Gophers work odd hours. HUH??
Watched a Gopher mound for a while. Nothing! Went back at 11:00 and sure enough, Gopher in the trap. Grandma was a COOL Lady.
I make the rounds, knock down all the Mole hills then watch for any activity. Usually early in the AM. Dirt moves? I stick the hose in and wait for it to come up for air. Usually grab them by the back of the neck, slam them on the ground then place them next to the cat's dish. Turn my back and within minutes, it's gone. Last one I got was with my gardening knife. Saw the dirt move, kept moving it away till the little pig nose pushed out. Stabbed it in the back of the head.
They usually run in pairs. Get one, there's another not too far away. Be ready.;)
Gophers dry farming in the fields. Rake off the dirt and see the Cats on watch.:D
If you have Moles, you've got good ground. They're after worms.
I have been known to dispatch a couple of Gophers with my Ruger Super Blackhawk in 44 Magnum.
