Modifying a Savage MK II stock

I have a MK II Savage in 22lr and the stock flexes quite a bit. Has anyone here cut a channel and epoxied a piece of Alum. in the darn thing ?
 
I have done that successfully. Also added a 2nd action screw by drilling and tapping the rear-most "stud" and running a screw through the rear part of the trigger guard. Glass and pillar bed the action, work the trigger to 2 Ibs. and it's quite a sweet shooter.
