Model 700 Bolt -- J-Lock for Rem

I inherited some Bolts and one of them has me scratching my head. I've never seen a Bolt like it and I couldn't find one like it doing a Google search so I thought I'd post some pictures and see if anyone has any info. It looks like a Fire / Safe Indicator near the handle. It's a short action with a bolt face diameter of .479". The last two pictures show the bolt installed on my 700 243.
When cocked it looks like the rear part sticks out furher than the original bolt and the indicator doesn't move or change position when cocked or fired. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That's the infamous/notorious J-lock system Rem put out a few years ago for gun safety. It also features the FP spring which drug on the ID of the bolt body.

It was called the J bolt. It came with a little green screwdriver shaped tool to lock the bolt so that it would not close in the receiver if I remember correctly.

Replace with a new bolt shroud and throw the J bolt shroud in the garbage can!

Thanks everyone for the info. I have no idea where the little green screwdriver is.
Any guesses as to what it's worth?
I have three other bolts I inherited.
One is a Rem 700 long action similar to the J-Lock.
Another looks like a Rem Model 600 with a bent bolt handle and another that looks like it's for a Browning Safari Grade long action rifle.

I bought a 700 Classic in 221 Fireball a bunch o' years ago. It had the infernal j-lock. As others note above, it's easily replaced with a regular firing pin assembly. It probably took less time to swap it out than it did to type this.

Yes, this is another terrible / awful offering for the sporting sports along with Led Sleds.

Replace it, yes.
Throw the original away, no.
I would definitely keep the original shroud. Especially if it's an LVSF model.

I have one of the keys in my junk I may need someday box. Let me know if you want it. I don't think I will ever use it.

A lead sled has many more uses than a J lock. You could always open the lead bag up and load shotgun ammo.

Thank you all for the information, advice and the offer for the tool I'm missing!
I looked at Brownells and they sell a Gre-Tan assembly for a little under $90. Not sure if I'll buy the part or try to sell it at a reduced price. It's hard to find any info on what bolts are worth. I did find a couple Rem 700 on eBay that are going for around $300. I found out the other bolt I have is a FN Long Claw. Only info I could find was $600 on a website, not eBay.

So you have only the bolts, no actions or guns they go to? The J-lock bolts can easily be converted to normal, but are there actions somewhere that may be worthless without these bolts?

I inherited them from my Dad along with a bunch of other gun related items.
You should see my list of leather holsters . He also had barrel blanks and stocks.
At one point in his life he would take the Bolts out when going on vacation to thwart thiefs.
My guess is he found them for sale at a Gun Show or bought them from someone elses collection.
As far as rifles without Bolts, I'm guessing they were repalced with a custom Bolt like PTG makes.
