I have a chance to buy a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight .270. It looks like it hasn't been fired. The figure in the wood is beautiful. The floorplate is engraved saying "Winchester Model 70 2008 Limited Edition" It looks like a Super Grade, but without the inletted sling studs. I've never seen or heard of this model. The local gun shop said they made different grades of Super Grades???? Any ideas? --- What's it worth?

2008 catalog shows the limited edition floorplate. The statement is that it is marking the return of the Model 70; and, that quantities would be limited. I believe this is when South Carolina took up the manufacturing that had ended at New Haven. The right side of the barrel will tell you where made. The USA made rifles were made at the FN plant in Columbia SC. When production ended there, production was moved to Portugal.
There are only 30-06 and 300WM listed as actual Super Grade rifles. MSRP on those was $1149 and $1199 respectively.
There is a Featherweight Deluxe listed in 270, MSRP of $999, with grade 2 walnut. It would have an MOA trigger.
South Carolina made rifles aren’t that plentiful overall, first year rifles aren’t that plentiful. But, it’s made right, and should shoot well. Hard to value. Maybe half again as much as MSRP might be fair.

I’m thinking up to that might be fair, I’d want to see it. Me being me, I would want it for less, if I wanted it. And if I had one, unfired in the box, I’d probably want more.
Winchester model 70s have gotten a bit stronger in value the past few years. No idea if Covid has anything to do with it or not. I’ve had several FN US M70s, but have never seen the 2008 marked rifles except in pictures.
