Thanks for this. I have a M1917 waiting on a barrel blank. While I have a takeoff that is said to be from that rifle, it’s always nice to have dimensions for reference.
I was taught to cut them at 42° based in the photo above.Actually, I'm thinkin' the angle should be 48*, but I could be wrong.............
How much clearance did you cut for the bolt? Even if you went with 20 thou clearance, you should still have the case covered.View attachment 1332162

Yes, the drawing shows basically the cone out to the thread minor diameter, which isn't how they normally are. They usually tend to have a flat ring on the back as shown in my photos. I usually thread to the action, start cutting the cone, then base my depth on bolt nose clearance. These are fairly "loose" so I usually do 10-15 thou clearance.Thanks for posting this - its what I ended up with. The drawing needs updated..
