MOA vs. inches

Im sure this has been asked before.Iv never payed much attention to what a MOA really measures. What is the diff here.

MOA,"minute of angle") is an angular measurement, i.e. it represents a dimension defined by 1/60th of a degree of arc.

A given arc, as stated in MOA, remains the same at various distances. However, the actual measurement of that arc, in inches, cms etc. increases with distance.

1 MOA at 100 yards = 1.047" . This is close enough that we often use inch equivalents. For example, we say 1 MOA is 1" at 100, 2" at 200, 3" at 300 etc.

The important thing to remember is that the actual diameter of circle described by MOA on a target increases with distances. But MOA gives us a way to compare relative accuracy between groups shot at close distances vs. far distances.

Ruling out wind and bullet speed effects, an 8" group at 800 yards represents the same "accuracy" as a 1" group at 100 yards, because they are both 1 MOA.

So I wonder,outloud):
If 1moa is 1.047" @100..Is 1moa 1.047x8 @800, or 8.38"?
If so, then an 8" group @ 800 would actually be .96moa, albeit same accuracy.

Never thought about it & my nightshift brain isn't up to it.
