MOA Receiver

No info on that action other than remembering that they made them. I had a couple MOA pistols though that were very well made and accurate. The pistols were popular with the silhouette shooters.

Yes, this action you have resembles a Ruger 10-22? Stainless Steel and threaded? If so, it was made by Richard Mertz, originally out of Ohio, later moved to Sundance, WY. Yes, he also built a single shot pistol available in various calibers, and yes they used to shoot these at unrealistic distances, quite well. I have a couple of these and for a semi auto in 22rf they shoot well, the pistols, yes they do also. If you do an internet search there's some info that comes up. Last I heard, Richard's health isn't the best, he doesn't build any longer and from the info I have, he doesn't shoot anymore either.

Been to Richard Mertz shop many times when he was in Eaton Ohio and shot many of his guns in silhouette matches and all were top shelf guns.

were these SS with the tenon aperture threaded? and on the heavy side?
I have a rifle length barrel for one around here somewhere.

A buddy of mine had one in 22LR. They were cumbersome to load in a match so he had a set of 5 "loading sticks" for it. Each one held one 22LR round in the end with a little piece of rubber or something that way he could feed rounds in easily with his big paws.

I only shot his .357 mag, 444 Marlin. And the 444 was way to much. In a match at the end of a day you were ready to quit after 40 rounds. One time at his shop, Richard shot a 460 Weatherby Mag and NO I didn't shot it. That was in his falling block pistol it was mounted in a pistol vice he didn't hand hold it . He had to take the barrel off to load it. It was to test to see what the gun would take. And it passed the test.
