Mirage Tube ?

What type of plastic tubing does everyone use for it ? Is it better clear or black ?

I don't use a plastic tube. I do use an aluminum Venetian blind slat trimmed to fit the barrels on my rifles. I use sticky back hook and loop Velcro to keep the slat on my barrel. You can see the white loop dots on the barrel of my Savage 12VLP in .204 Ruger below. The hook dots go on the aluminum slat.

The next photo shows an aluminum slat sitting on the barrel of my tight neck .17 Remington.

This has worked quite well for me in keeping heat mirage from the barrel from messing with my view through the scope. Sinclair International also sells these aluminum slats.
