For top, flat black makes the most sense so you don't blind yourself.

Of those choices, flat black. Definitely not polished aluminum: too much risk of blinding yourself or the folks to either side of you.

Mine are both gloss carbon fiber on the top and seem to work fine. Only issue I have is the same that @Drewel describes above.

A strip of exposed Xray film works very well.

I am a cheap person...lol
Used a piece of very light weight rigid material we had some signs made from at work.
Just cut it down to a useable size.
I have to say though...the xray film idea is awesome. Just finding some these days may be a challenge.

The digital film works great!!!

White 2" metal blind, wrapped in carbon fiber looking vinyl. Made another from white polycarbonate. Left it white does not seem to affect the TR rifle

Made mine from a white 2" wide blind slat and painted it flat black. held on with velcro dots.
