Minimum weight for front rest

I'm in the process if building a new front rest, and wanted to get it lighter than my current set up. My current set up has a windage bottom and weighs in at 32lbs. It very stable and works flawless for my 17lb light gun. But, I would like to have a light weight version for my 10.5 lb 100/200 yd gun. So, the question is: What do you think the minimum weight should be for stability, and what size of footprint? Most rests I have measured have the feet arranged in a 7' radius from the center post.

Medicineman,
It's about combination of several things, imho.
I would say 15 lbs,or so) is about the minimum for LV/Sporter. The heavier the better. But, heavy alone does not always mean sturdy/rigid/stable/solid, in over all, because it,would) also depends on the, structural) design, fitness of the components etc.
Bench top measurements & its/their shape must be considered to determine the foot print. Anyway, I would say 10' x 12' CTC is about the very minimum.

Jmho,
