Minimum temp for reloading

I keep my garage at 48 degrees in the winter here in indiana. I can heat it up when I go out there to work or reload. Will that temp cause a problem with equipment or powder. Or should I just plan to build a nice bench and storage in my computer room which will only create a problem with my wife.

The only limiting factor would be your tolerance for cold. ;)

You sure won't affect your loading at 48 degrees. Powder and primers want cool and dry. Sounds like the perfect environment.

I load down to freezing or just under with no problems (with the exception of cold feet!). A small room heater under the bench sure feels good!

Just so long as your powder and primers are stored proper from the heat, cold back and forth so you don't get condensation build up. Store that stuff inside or in a decent box

The electronic powder measures and dispensers are not fond of the cold.

I try to do most of my load development at the range. I worked up a load for a 6br in temps from -10-0 degrees last winter. The chargemaster ran pretty slow at those temps.

I don’t think there is a problem with keeping the garage at 48 degrees when you are not using the stuff - that is probably good for them.

However, when you heat it up to do reloading, you probably need to wait till the temp inside equilibrates to the warmer temperature before reloading. Specifically things like electronic balance. The reason is you don’t want to be using the stuff as it is warming up as this may throw things like calibration off.

If your using electronic scales they need 70+ deg to function properly. Other wise put a coat on and enjoy!
