Minimum Bolt nose clearance for a Post-64 Winchester

Had a barrel installed recently and I believe the bolt nose is JUST touching the barrel. What is minimum clearance?

John Hinnant lists a maximum clearance of .005, nothing on a minimum but contacting the barrel would not help accuracy.

I go for .010" You have to have room for dirt, bristles from a brush etc. There no safety concerns exposing .180" of the case. One major manufacture is around .200" and never has a problem.

Keep in mind that some "loose" actions can still touch the barrel on an empty chamber, but will have the intended clearance with the case in the chamber depending on how close it was cut.

10 thou is ideal as Dave said,especially in a hunting rifle.you don't want a cape buffalo charge and the bolt lock up.
