Just wondering what the lowest weight of Varget any of you have tried in the 6.5L and what kind of velocities it gave you with what weight bullets.
There is no shortage of how much to put for max velocities etc. But I am looking for how light it can be loaded and still perform out to 420 yards.
Would there be any issues with to little volume in the case for proper expansion/burn rate etc at say 31gr? Right now I am using 35.7gr behind 123gr SMKs out of a 25" Kreiger 8 twist and getting excellent accuracy but I would like to reduce the recoil just a bit more if I can do it without losing to much BC advantage. I only shoot silhouette so I am not in need of the extreme accuracy BR shooters seek .125" larger groups means nothing to me. Being able to maintain a follow through and keep my target within my scope sight picture during a shot is what I am after. With 35.7gr it is just a bit to sharp for that to happen repeatedly.
So before I go dig out the chrony and load rounds and head to the range can anyone give me some insight into tests they have already performed?
Thanks,
Bo
