Military Appreciation Sniper Shoot - MASS, Three Forks, MT August 19th

All,

I know this type of shooting (Field Precision) doesn't necessary fall into the disciplines that this forum focuses on, but I thought I'd post anyway. This will be a 9-station one-day match with targets ranging from 100-1100 yards. Round count is expected to be ~100 for Experienced and Novice open Classes and ~ 70 for the Hunter Class.

This is a special event because all proceeds will be donated to Big Sky Bravery in Bozeman, MT (www.bigskybravery.org).

Mission:

Big Sky Bravery provides our Military's Active Duty Special Operations Forces with post-deployment decompression programs throughout Montana's restorative surroundings. Big Sky Bravery tailors its programs to these elite forces by focusing on psychological and emotional well-being, and by building trust, brotherhood, and friendships that last a lifetime.

Please visit their website to learn more about their programs.

We've also assembled a very nice prize table and the support from the local community has been outstanding. We've also got support from some of the big players like Manners Stocks, Elite Iron and Defiance Machine.

I'm at work and won't be home in Montana til the first part of September but let me know if this is going to be a yearly event. Being a veteran myself, i like going to events that benefit my brothers.

Any idea on the course of fire? How many rounds per station? All I have is sporter weights at the moment, wondering if I have something to use that I wont melt the barrel off.

It should be six-seven rounds per stage. Mostly prone. Three minutes per stage. Targets are 750 yards and less for the hunter class. 11.5# or under with scope/bipod and no more than a 5 round magazine.

I'm signed up for the great supported event. With a high fire danger and shooting a RUM (intend to use the rifle this hunting season) on a barrel almost worn, I am planning on bringing 9 rounds. I hope this will not be a problem and I look forward to supporting the event.
