Midway's 77 gr OTM blem bullets.

I'll have to get a pic tonight, but I thought I'd ask the question... I've bought these many times in the past in various quantities and packaging.

This shipment contained 3 100 round bags of bullets with description and date. The bags look like their stained in a dark copper/maroon color. And the bullets are very dark. It looks like that nasty jewlers rouge is all over them.

Do bullet makers do a rouge polish in their process? I plan to wash them thoroughly, but wonder if anyone has any insight.

I did. 90% came clean, the others look like a failed moly coat job.

I wouldn't care if I wasn't worried about there being rouge on them.

Here is a pic of the way they came:

To my knowledge all jacketed bullet makers run the finished product through a cleaning and polishing process. However your photos at least look, like your after photos are worse than the before photos, regarding bullet polishng and cleaning.

May want to replace you media or recharge the polishing powder in the current media.

I had a batch of sierra jackets that color once. I still have no idea what causes it. Tumbling did nothing to it.

Odd that 90 percent of them polished right up. Anyway, I got confirmation that there's no rouge, and they are blems, so I'll load em up and sling them.

I have found a soaking in hot water with a squirt or two of Dawn makes Sierra seconds very shiny by removing the lube left on seconds that didn't make it thru the wash and polish station. If not shiny enough then run then thru a cycle in the thumbler.

I wish I had seen this 2 days ago, already loaded 200 rounds of them. I just washed a 100 bullets in hot water and dish soap, oh boy, oh boy,
my disposable gloves are almost black.
