Midway USA prices

My reply about buying it from Dewey was meant to be facetious. I was attempting to make the exact point you did. Apparently I failed.

Also, I can't believe I bought something from a Lion Killer. Egad!

I always ask the cashier at Krogers if the profit from my milk purchase is going to fund things against my beliefs. She always gets a crooked smile on her face and slowly shakes her head no. It's good to know these things.

Reminds me, I need to write a letter to Ford about the profits on my pickup.

One method I used to reduce shipping prices was to add in a "ships free" item, usually a <$2 part. For example, 500rd box-o-bullets shipping was $14. Added in a $2 blowgun quiver guard, shipping magically reduced to $7. I'm now $5 discounted shipping..... Doesn't work on everything and the cheap-free-shipping items cycle through regularly.

I thought everyone used bulwaags' above option. Apparently not.
It reduces your shipping cost and adds a cheap pocket knife to your collection.

In the name of beautiful capitalism and in support of someones bloody hobby and there means of funding it that just happens to support my own hobby...................I suddenly feel the need to go shopping at midway.

At least Midway unlike some others I could mention will ship powder/primers to Md. There is no state law preventing this but I understand there are some localities that have tried to ban internet ammo and component sales. So Larry etc. gets my business, the others don't.

Larry Potterfield also puts a lot of people to work with good jobs at midway USA . I'd say he's earned every dime he's made from the way he handles things.

Midway runs a 1st Class business. I also believe you may be looking at 2 different items.

However, anyone who supports our sport and rights, I will be right there with them.

I am also the type that try's to buy local whenever I can. I PAY more, and I know it, but I want the small family owned business to survive too.

EXAMPLE: We have a local grocery store that's been in business for years, locally owned. WALLMART decides to build a mini super grocery store "directly" across the street from them. I go to the local family store because I want them to survive and be around. They to support the community and are heavily involved in sponsoring local sports. THIS fact alone will keep me supporting them.

We are all grown men/women who make our money and choose where we want to spend it That's our rights. Taxes, Hospital Ins, Home Owners Ins, and MOSTLY property taxes are eating much of my income up. That's where we really need to put our foot down. I know these taxes for the most part were voted in, but they are put on the ballot in a way NOBODY understands them. THIS SHOULD BE A CRIME.

I don't think Midway is going to break any of us. Personally, I hope they continue to better their business.

JMO, Dennis

Mike,
Only people from the Midwest would know what Orchelns is.

OK. Orchelns is a farm and home store. If the man actually drove a car there then his savings were used to start the car and leave the parking lot. Even as trivial as this thread is, it does serve a purpose as to show that midway is a 5 star operation. They stand behind the products and the people that buy them.

As JRS and others have pointed out above, I believe the OP priced the wrong item. It is anyone's privilege to deal, or not to deal, with any outfit they please, so his choice of sources is up to him. Note, however that back in March, Larry Potterfield and his wife Brenda donated $100,000.00 to the NRA-ILA National Endowment for Protection of the Second Amendment; This is in addition to several million $$$ that Midway has raised and donated to the NRA over the years through their "round-up" program that you have the option of participating in at checkout. Programs like that add overhead to a business, yet Midway and the Potterfields do it anyway. Whether anyone chooses to deal with them or not, in the end, they are big supporters of shooters and shooting, over and above their obvious business self-interest.

Frankly, were I to start a retail sales business, I can think of a lot of products that offer equal or greater profits and a lot less legal hassles than the business Midway is in, so I think there is some dedication to shooters and shooting there, over and above the simple profit motive.

I logged into my midway account a few weeks ago, and was suprised to see a Happy Birthday shop for special birthday pricing box. I picked up a Forster CoAx for $283.00. I don't get that kind of love from my local gunshops.

Personally to compare Midways new shipping prices too Brownells, if Midway has it in stock they get the order.

Another thing I love is when someone drives and uses $5.00 of gasoline to save .14 cents per gallon of gas to fill up!

I got a bill from the doctor's office once for .27. Seriously, 27 cents. I thought it very ridiculous, so I wrote them a check for .14 and mailed it to them with a note that said I would pay the other .13 the next month and would they be so kind as to mail me another invoice showing the new balance. I would have loved to have been there when they opened the mail.

I love this 1 ^^^^^, i will have to forever keep this in the back of my mind. ;D

I've actually found that midway has some pretty competitive prices on some of there products, in fact some of there product is cheaper than dealer cost at some distributors.

Oh lord. My father did that. He bought a Ferrari. Used to get into 3rd and 4th fast and bog the engine. Coasted down hills to "save gas". Drove me nuts!
