Midway Storm Shelters

I realize this may be intended to be tongue-in-cheek, a spoof, (probably not the correct word) or a slap at MidwayUSA . And this being a firearms venue, I was surprised to see this.

But in all seriousness, the facility where this was tested/developed is 12 miles from my house.
The structure that occupied the lot where my current abode sits, and most of the residences in the area was demolished by a tornado 11 May 1970. My Dad's business was destroyed, but he/we (I was a teen at the time) rebuild and reopened 4 months later.

Just a little history lesson about the Southern Plains of the Republic of TEXAS.
That is all carry on with your day, Thank you for indulging my 52 years past walk down memory lane.

Remember the good old days, when the Midway USA ad was mailed out in paper form, they'd take your order over the phone and shipping was always free? I wish good 'ol Larry had stuck to his original business model. The current model, whatever it is, doesn't make any sense to me. I think a college level business class would have a field day studying it.

Are you suggesting that Larry would have done better by sticking with paper catalogs and phone orders in this age of online everything? Something tells me that he’s probably not very disappointed in his outcome thus far, in spite of what internet commentators have to say.

No, that was not the heart of my suggestion. Midway used to have a laser sharp focus on the shooting sports, reloading, customer service, and value.

I understand the times change and businesses must strive and invest to stay modern and relevant.

Though I’ve no doubt he has been quite successful financially (and he should be; took risks and worked hard), the part I don’t like is the loss of laser sharp focus on the shooting sports, reloading, customer service, and value.

I do realize opinions vary, and that’s fine, too.

Others have come along in the ensuing years (ie, Blue Collar, Powder Valley, RMR), have that old fashioned customer focus, and are rightly being rewarded for it.
