Micrometer seating die for multiple calibers?

As a long time hunter and shooter, I have probably 15 calibers that I reload for. As a new benchrest shooter at the age of 71, I have really noticed the accuracy of the micrometer bullet seater and think that I need more precision in my seating and shooting for several calibers.

I am wondering if there are any seaters on the market that can handle multiple calibers or will I have to buy a micrometer seater die for each caliber. Naturally, I need to keep the bullet centered on the case.

Any recommendations?? LoganDon

With the forster bench rest seater you can order caliber specific sliding chambers and seating stems.. you would have to obviously dismantle the die completely to interchange the pieces so as long as you're OK with doing that every time you switch calibers it can be done.

Howdy !

Hornady's "Micro-Just " seater top puts the micro adjust option on any compatible Hornady'
seater dies.

Since their seater die design is modular, and of " universal " style. The same micro top is useable on a wide variety of calibres/cartridges. One simply changes-out dedicated case holding "sleeves", and of course seater stem goodies.

Similar length cases can use the same outer ( seater ) die "body".

Redding sells a micrometer adjuster/stem/plug for regular and VLD projectiles to put on their regular seaters but the micrometer alone is simply for your convenience and is not what makes for more concentric bullet seating.

Any recommendations??

I have dies from the 60s and 70s called universal, one die body and a lot of parts. All of my seating dies are micro adjust. All I have to manage to keep up with is the height of the seating stem above the die and a transfer to set the die to zero off the lands.

Then there are competition seating dies, my RCBS seating die seats bullets for the 30/06, 308 W, 8mm06 and 8mm57. To go from 30/06 to 308W an extended shell holder is required.

I have a Lyman universal seating die that seats bullets for any 7mm case.

I have a die that is good for all 30.cal. rounds, It a Vickerman they don't make them anymore. But I have seen similar dies that you insert the bullet in the opening in the front of the die. I can't think of where I seen the new die. But there Cal. related.

I had one of those "Universal seating dies" years ago (that would be before the Internet lol) , in any event it produced ammo about as straight as a dog's hind leg... Neat looking paper weight .

Good luck in your search.
