I have a Micro-Precision press that I bought probably 35 years ago. It's big and cast and heavy so it was always easier to use something smaller. Now that I'm looking for strength and precision, I want to put it in service. It has three fixed stations and a ton of leverage.
Here are the issues I ran into today. Only one of the stations is functional due to the lack of a base for the shell holder.
The one that I have drops into a counter bore in the press with a 1/2-20 shank that secures with a nut. Base accepts a standard RCBS shell holder and has a setscrew to secure the shell holder.
I would really like to find at least one more so I can decap and size with one press. Perhaps some of you chronologically gifted reloaders can suggest where I might look.
Another issue is that the daylight between the shell holder and the bottom of the press at the top of the stroke is no more than an eyeballed .030 and I think I'll have to grind some material off the base of my Redding S type full length die.
