Message to Members -- Crackdown on Insulting and Disparaging Posts

I don't know if it's the phase of the moon, the price of gasoline, or rising levels of testosterone in the spring, but there has been a disturbing rise in improper postings in this Forum in the last few weeks. As a result I have been forced to delete a number of threads.

NOTICE to ALL: There is ZERO Tolerance for insulting or disparaging remarks. There is ZERO Tolerance for ethnic, racial, or religious slurs or demeaning comments.

We don't have a blanket ban on political or religious topics ... YET. But I'm seriously considering this because a handful of forum members can't seem to discuss these subjects without resorting to name-calling or insults. Be aware that if I see ANY of that, the post will be deleted immediately, and if I can't cure the problem by removing one or two posts, the entire thread will be deleted permanently.

Final Words -- 99.95% of Forum Posts are OK
I want to stress that, though we have experienced a rise in problem posts, this is a very isolated issue. The vast majority of Forum members play by the rules and exhibit good "internet manners" when posting. One thing that attracts people to this Forum, and keeps people here, is that, overall, the discussions remain positive, without ego battles or hostility. Let's keep it that way!

There are people here from starters to the best! Try to keep this in mind when replying to post. WE all started somewhere. As stated, I have learned tons on info right here, but in the process, I KNOW I asked several stupid questions. I did get my answers and it's made a better shooter out of me!

This is one of the best of two Forums on the web, LET's keep it this way!

I started donating to this site as I have gained more info here than from any book or magazine I have purchased! I look forward to finding new ideas that help my abilities to shoot!

I have learned more about available products for us, RIGHT here in this Forum! Then, If I have any questions, just ask! Try getting a response from a magazine! JMO!

Yes, and I'll bet I know which one it is. I posted a simple question a coupla days ago on that site relating to gun lubricants, and was very quickly attacked by 2 or 3 trolls. It was my first and will be my last post there. Most of the replies I got were well-meant and helpful, but the buttheads ruined the whole experience. I won't be wasting any more time there in the future.

I guess I owe all of you a apology especially you Paul as I am probably the leading cause of this thread, I do well when I stick to gun related topics but my hatred towards liberalism of any kind tends to bring the worst out in me on threads with any kind of politics involved, I have no problem with race, ethnic, or religion, and probably would never post on the subject unless I was sticking up for someone. I am a very opinionated, strong minded, conservative person and quickly bow my back when I see something that goes against my grain. I really enjoy this forum and almost all of it's members and I try to contribute verbally and financially whenever and however I can, I will try harder in the future to stay clear of those type of threads and or keep my bias comments to myself, I won't promise as I hate a liar but I will promise to try harder and again I apologize to all and especially to you Paul for wasting your valuable time by having to start a thread like this to correct a 4th grade behavior problem.

It's simple really......If you see something you consider ignorant just ignore it! I'm talking about stuff like the "Nugent" threads, what the hell does that have to do with precision shooting?
There are plenty of political forums where one can play that game.

And if the Boss wants to get serious, one-week bans usually get the point across.

I want to learn to be a better shooter! Once a subject gets started with maybe only two words, that's all it takes to get a non-product or procedure going.

So it's best just to have a NO tolerance policy on these subjects! It would be better for all of us!

Dennis you well be right and I appreciate it but I believe in owing up to your mistakes, I didn't resort to name calling or insult anybody directly but I used a lot of Red over sized capitalized words which on the internet that means your yelling, being sarcastic or trying to get your point across, I was doing all three, I did that on Nugent and BOA threads and others in the past. Like Killshot said a smart man would just ignore it but no one ever accused me of being smart, I am drawn to threads like that like a magnet to steal. I believe in owing up to your wrongs, this forum means a lot to me and so does it's members, I am not embarrassed or ashamed to apologize when in the wrong. I would hate to get kicked off the forum for being that stupid only to try sneaking back on under a new username and computer,...everyone would know it was me inside of a week anyway, I can't change my mannerisms even if I wanted to, that is why I said I would promise to try to abstain from threads like this but will make no promises as I can't abide a liar nor hypocrite but as I said I do promise to try harder. I can't control what others do but I can lead by example, people like Boyd Allen, fdshuster, and BlueEyedBear are the people I strive to be more like but fall way short most of the time, just give me time though I am working on it

The site is yours and you certainly have the right to control conduct on it.

I for one find this site to be one of the best of it's type. The 6mmBR/Accurateshooter, and Benchrest Central (owned and operated by Wilbur Harris), Accurate Reloading( Saeed), Longrange Hunting (Len Backus), and Longrangedot com are visited by many ladies and gentlemen shooters. Unfortunately there are a few folks that take that for granted. Even with an interuption from time to time your site is the best out there for the overall shooting picture.

I would hate that you would have to restrict the site from public access and make it a members only (restricted access) site. I know of several sites that have had to resort to this type of action.

Thank you for your time and effort to make it the quality it is.

Both threads are Now deleted. What gives is that this is not a political discussion forum. There are many other locations for that.

Once you even get into the matters of "X candidate is good, Y candidate is bad" or "immigrants are cheaters" (the other thread) things go downhill immediately.

Members of this forum have OVERwhelming asked me to take a hard line on this.
