Message to Members about Site Operation Costs and Donations

First I want to thank all the many Forum members who have donated to the site already. Your contributions help us keep the Forum and the main site operating smoothly. You guys help "keep the boat afloat" so we can provide a service to shooters worldwide.

Contributions for Server Costs
It takes money to run this Forum. I'm asking guys to consider helping out because we have significant hosting costs to serve an ever-growing audience. We now have over 18,000 Forum members!

For those who have successfully used our FREE classifieds to sell goods, now would be a good time to consider making a donation. I just forked out multiple thousands of dollars to upgrade and maintain our primary site server for another year. And we have three other hosting systems in place -- including a costly dedicated server just for this Forum. Despite rising costs, I'm doing my best to hold the line and keep the Classifieds FREE to use. (Some other outdoor sites charge $3.00 per listing, or require sellers to pay an annual membership fee).

We mark our 8th Anniversary on the web on September 1, 2012. If you've been a regular reader of our articles and Daily Bulletin reports over the years, but never kicked in a few bucks, please consider doing so.

Making a donation is easy. Just click on the orange "DONATE to SITE" button in the middle of this page near the top. That takes you to a page explaining how to send a check or make a secure donation via PayPal.

All donations, large and small, are welcome. We suggest $12.00 a year, the equivalent of a buck a month. That's less than the cost of two movie tickets, which provide nothing more than a 90-minute diversion. We provide a service to shooters 24/7, 365 days a year, with new information posted every day in our Bulletin.

Thanks for the reminder and it had been awhile since I had donated so money is on its way, this site really is great. All member should donate a little if they can.
 
Sent you guys some funds. I should have got this done alot sooner. I have used the classifieds to sell my items to support my habit. And I will say this site has caused me to spend more money than the items I have sold . But I did find one helluva of a bargain on a 1k Heavy bench gun set up that had everything form the front rest to bullets, brass and dies. Even made a swap for the scope that's on it now to be match ready. I shot a score of 99 first time out. Needless to say very very HAPPY with this Forum.

I would like to express my ever growing gratitude for those providing this wonderful site. Accurate shooter.com was the vehicle that started me in the right direction. I have been a member here for several years, mainly laying low and reading all the post. Recently I have used the classifieds section successfully and this has given me the freedom and the funds to further my endeavor. I have made my first but certainly not last donation, long over due. I will make a commitment to myself that in future use of the classifieds section that I contribute a portion of my proceeds to "Donation", Furthermore, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have already contributed. I know that I visit the forum multiple times each day, and it has provided much information and joy. I would be lost if I could not get me AccurateShooter "FIX" each day.

Great site,I'am here just about every day picked up a great buy recently and plenty of information.i try to donate every year.every one thats uses the site should try to donate at least 5 bucks or more if you can afford it.Thats the cost of one magazine.Solve one problem or help with load info,more than paid for itself.

Maybe you should take a couple weeks off and "shut-er-down." I bet you would get a flood of donations from former freeloaders when you got back and went back online!!!!

I pay for 4 subscriptions to gun and reloading magazines and this forum is a real deal compared to the price of those magazines and I get more for less. Donation on the way.

You've made a good point there. You know, I've contemplated a "time out" for different reasons --because the workload is almost overwhelming. I work on the site 7 days a week all year long. My last real vacation was four days in the spring of 2011. It would be great if we could hire a skilled half-time employee to help with big articles/videos and to "hold down the fort" a few times a year.

I am an accountant by training, and financial things are pretty black and white to me. When you make a statement like the one above, I say, what better way to pay for that half-time employee than to "plug the dike for two weeks (shut down)" and reap the deserved donations when you get back and go back online!! I can't tell you how pissed off I get when I see all of these "f-ing freeloaders" cruising your great site and not paying a dime for the privilege. I do not know how you put up with it!!!

Why should I donate to this site???, It has cost me lots of $$$, (2 NEW 6 BR'S)
I guess because it has saved me lots of $$$ (by helping me make better decisions on equipment)!!!

This is without a doubt the best firearms site on the web, period. Every question I have ever asked has been answered, every bit of advice I've ever asked for has been given. The articles and reference materials alone are worth much much more than a $12 donation. Access to the best shooting forum on the web is priceless. I am sending a donation. Ron...
