Correct. You only want the action body and bolt body. No springs. No firing pin. Defiance told me not to do the cocking piece either. I did the action body, stripped bolt (no ejector or extractor or firing pin assembly), bolt shroud, and the bolt stop(minus the spring).effendude said:How far down does the rifle need to be disassembled for the treatment? @Rustystud so, how did the barrel work out?Blair who did the Meloniting that only lasted 2000 rounds. Butch Lambert has a 6mmPPC with close to 10,000 rounds down the tube and going string. I spoke with a friend at Picatinny Arsenal and was told of Melonitied military rifles having 50,000 plus rounds and still shooting.
I'll let you know how many rounds this barrel gets in about 2 or 3 years.

I'm in the same boat! I have rifles in my safe, that I built for myself, that I have "test fired" only, just to examine the fired brass! I built my personal .280 Ackley 3 yrs ago, I think I have 12 pieces of brass fire formed so far..........Ive had a couple done. I was among the first years ago then had another one done i got stuck with. If they last more than a couple hundred rounds id never know cause i cant bear to shoot em. I spend too much money and dont get to shoot often enough to compete with the broke scope guys and the crossfire guys down at the bottom of the list.
