I'm looking to get a barrel melonited, after doing some searching I found that Joel Kendrick was the most recommended, he was out of MMI-trutec and would take a barrel from an individual.

Called MMI-trutec today and they said they wouldn't take them from an individual that I would have to send it to a 3rd party before it was sent to them.

I'd rather have it just sent to one place and get it done. Does anyone know if Joel is still around and maybe doing this for someone else or could recommend another shop that has experience with barrels.

These guys should be able to do it. They do full guns for individuals.

I had H&M do a action and barrel for me 2 years ago. The finish has held up great a by product of the process is how slick the action is. The look is between glossy and flat.

I recently had my BAT action done. I sent it directly to Daryle at BAT. Not sure who he sent it to but I trust he would only use a reputable company. It turned out great and I love it, couldn't be happier. BAT will also do barrels and I believe they charge $50 per barrel which seems reasonable to me. Just out of curiosity, what prep work do you plan on doing to the barrel before having it sent in? There are a lot of different opinions on prep work needed.

I send newly chambered barrels only and deburr the throat and clean the bore really well. If you want a shiny black, polish the OD to a jeweler's rouge finish. When I get mine back I polish the chamber and run a bronze brush through the barrel with 0000 steel wool wrapped around the brush.
