Measure action for scope mounts

What's the best and most accurate way to measure a Rounded action.
I'm needing a new set of scope mounts I believe.

I just use dial calipers then check the weaver base chart for the closest fit . small gap in the middle won't hurt or you can bed it . Better too small than too big.

I use EGW mounts.

Most of theirs go by make/model/action screw hole measurement.

Solid, well built mounts & rings!
Their mounts are kinda tall. But lets you use low rings with up through 50mm objective.

Their Keystone line of rings are seriously overbuilt, especially for their cost! $69.

Well I bought 3/8 dovetail Mounts so I could use harrels tall rings. I needed the lightest rings possible to meet weight

I have the old weaver bases that came with the rifle.
