MDT Send It (G1 and/or G2) Inside Pic (or Broken)

I saw the MDT Send It Gen 2 Electronic level monitor on a YouTube video and it piqued my interest. So I go and find it and OMG $230! This is worse than the Covette Tax.

So, fuled by pure and rightious spite, I am going make my own.

While I have my own idea of what to use for microcontroller, multi axis accelerometer/gyro and other items, I am curious about what the Send It is using.

Would anyone be able to take a high res (phone is fine) pic of the insides? Alternatively, if anyone has a broken one that is taking up space for no reason, I would happily pay the shipping cost. Pretty much any physical condition will work, as long as the chip markings and such on the circuit board can still be read.

EDIT: TL;DR at the end

I am not doing this because I really want a level or that I cannot afford the MDT Send It. It is out pure, unmitigated, hyper-fixated, autism adjacent, primal rage at the gall of charging such an ungodly level of markup that would make IBM blush.

And before you ask, YES, I fully expect to spend at least 2x on developing this. Because I can. There is no other reason. If end up making a few of these, because of couse I will (it is a good project to up my skill level in PCB and mechanical design) I will give them away when I go to NRL22 COFs.

I am new to the precision shooting world. Have not really shot anything other than a few mags out of dad's old 10/22 with my youngest 8ish years. Otherwise, it has been at least 20 years. I was raised with firearms and the old man was an AVID hunter. So, I do know a fair bit, but most all of it is outdated. Advice, guidance and helpful hints are welcome.

However, please DO NOT tell me I am wasting my money on this and just get spirit levels from X. It adds nothing to the conversation, I find it personally, concentrating and disrespectful and arrogant. If the post is not clear to you in some aspect, by all means ask for clarifying questions. That helps me in the future.

Whoa boy, that took a hot minute. Rant Off

tl;dr - Read what I wrote and respond to it. I am not looking for spirit levels from Amazon or the like.

Thank you,

Jason

The SG Pulse, not the Pro model, is $140 which I prefer to the MDT SendIt Gen2 (I have both). Here's a Reddit post of someone trying to DIY an SG Pulse. There are similar DIY electronic level projects on Reddit's r/longrange, may take a little searching.

edit to add post:
here's another diy level based on an esp32
Thank you for your contructive input on the topic of this thread. I appreciate it.

There are quite a few DIY electronic levels out there and I am using them as the basis for my code/design. As much as I love the ESP32 line, this is going to be done with my first true love, the Atmel 8-bit AVR. An ATtinyXX. The XX will be figured out when I have a better idea of how much flash and RAM I need.

I love your enthusiasm and I agree, when I look at some of these "tools" the markup is unbelievable.

But it's a niche sport and people pay for the niche.

As for the SG Pulse, I really like it's price point and it's usability, but I keep reading about the concerns over the privacy and the data mining the APP gets and you need to install the app to get it to work.

That just pisses me off, so I won't get one.

I love connectivity as much as the next IT guy, but there are some things that are even more absurd than the "WiFi Connected Toaster". This is one of them.

the app is only required to calibrate/level. once installed you have full control over permissions granted; could also delete the app after calibration and still use the level.

curious what you've read about gathered data.

That’s a great project, I looked into it and after starting the hardware research was sidetracked with an electronic wind speed and direction device to generate 3D wind models for better aiming. ‍

For true indications of level
being sensitive to 1/10th of a degree is more important
1/100th of a degree would be the best
Due to the affect of the increasing included angle getting more significant as distance increases

See if you can build something like this for this price

a 1° Rifle Cant will produce five (5) inches of lateral displacement at 1000 yards.
So with the current equipment available, the best you can hope for at 1000 yds is
being within 1" inch horizontal displacement from shot to shot (1/2" right or left of center)
, and that's if you gauge every shot to within 1/10th of 1 degree.
---
Your own equilibrium system, sensing the orientation of your head in relation to gravity
If you are trained to practice at Long Range shooting
and honed in with your eyes on the horizon and your vestibular system is in good working order
---
The human head alone can align and level itself to within 1/2 of a degree, which is about equal to
(Bubble Centered on a small level)
---
Fun Fact

Horizontal Error=Elevation Correction×sin⁡(of cant angle θ)
1) if your rifles has 30 MOA of drop at 1000 yds, this equals 314 inches of drop at 1000
2) The Sine of 1 degree = .001745
3) Multiply these 2 numbers together
314 x .001745 = Lateral Displacement for 1 deg of Rifle Cant = 5.48 inches
