I need some help choosing a rear bag for McRee Precision stock, the part that would ride the bag dimension is
.75 inches WIDE x 3inches LONG.

I have a initial idea of a bunny ear protektor bag with the SHEHANE stitch. But i am not 100% sure of this.

When using a rear bag is the bottom of stock supposed to be in the bottom of the bag or just ride the ears??

Have a custom made from Protektor. If it is a flat bottom, A "Brick might be the ticket. Call them tell em what you have and let them help you out. I have one they made years ago for a special Schuetzen Rifle. Pete

Thanks for the idea guys, i sent out a email to protektor for a bag and a picture of the rear of the stock. so we will see what they recommend.

I have a Mcree stock and I've experimented with several bag rider designs. Mcree used to sell a bag rider. It was a length of aluminum hex stock that was drilled and counterbored to attach to the bottom of the piece in your picture. You can fabricate your own bag rider from pretty much any type, size or shape of material you choose.

i would but i got no way of actually making one of my own, since i don't own the machines to do any of that stuff :-\

I hacksawed a strip of aluminum ~3/4" wide by 6" long from some 1/8" scrap. Drilled 2 holes for clearance for 1/4" socket head cap screws. Then, I took a piece of 3/4"x3/4" oak and cut it 6" long. Marked where the screw holes were and drilled holes big enough to clear the screw heads. Epoxied the wood to the aluminum, making sure that the holes were centered up. After the epoxy cured sanded the wood to the desired contour.

wow that's a really good idea, what is the the thread pitch for the screw that go into the bottom of the stock?
