McMillian Stocks Info and Website

Hi folks
I am very new to this so bare with me.
Can anyone in the US confirm if McMillian are still in business I am trying to research a custom stock and find that www.mcmfamily.com is now an expired website. Does this mean they are out of business or is there a new web site for them.
I am just beginiing in the F/TR class I have all the elements for my custom rifle in mind but am struggling to decide on a stock as there seems to be so many out there. Based in the UK apperas to limit my choices as I am looking for a wood type stock but again the style/type is somewhat confusing.

Many Thanks

There is a gentalman you should speak to,His name is Joel Russo and he makes great stocks.I have contacted him and he is currently building me a benchrest stock. He shoots 1000yrd benchrest so I'm sure he will be knowlegable of the requirments for the stock."Preacher" who is a contributer on this sight has bought several stocks from him and recommends him all the time. His email is jkrussos@comcast.net .I've heard that Mcmillian can take 6mo or longer to get a stock from, I don't think that is a issue with Joel.Hope the info helps.

Joel does real nice work, but don't speak for McMillan on their wait time, call them direct and ask. I ordered a MBR in January and received it two weeks ago. That’s not even close to 6 months

Jackson Rifles in Parton, Dumfriess & Galloway is the UK MacMillan importer and may have what you're thinking about in stock, or perhaps I should rephrase that to 'on hand'. Peter J doesn't sell direct to the public, but may be able to help you.

Fox Firearms in Stockport does the Robertson H&H models that see a fair bit of F-Class use in the UK, as well as retailing other makes and models. Brian F is a very useful guy to speak to about acquiring virtually any F-Class project gear.

South Yorkshire Shooting Supplies in Wombwell has just started getting Manners target and tactical stocks in. (Google SYSS as 'Rimfire Magic')

A very good guy to speak to is Stuart Anselm in Oldham (Osprey Rifles) who is also the GB F/TR team captain. He has mostly specialised in Savage work until recently but is now widening his scope to general gunsmithing and rifle building with a strong leaning to precision and F-Class rifles. Stuart has a lot of experience in legally obtaining components from American companies and what is involved time and cost wise, and may be able to help.

Also in that part of the world, North West Custom Parts (Wayne Titterton) imports, retails, and builds rifles on McRees Precision modular aluminium alloy stocks.

Be aware that although you can obviously obtain information and advice direct from US stock makers, it is a federal offence in the USA to export a stock to an unlicensed end-user without a valid State Department export licence specifically for the component. This wasn't strictly enforced until recently, but is now. As well as the time and effort involved in getting the said export licence, it is ruinously expensive to pay for one for a single stock. These regulations also apply to actions, barrels, trigger assemblies, certain scopes and scope mounting systems, especially those that are Mil-standard spec.

This is one of the many reasons why many US made precision shooting items have either become unobtainable in the UK recently (Jewell triggers being the most recent I've heard of) or have become very slow to arrive and a lot more expensive such as top American made barrels. (Pac-Nor whose barrels were both good quality and very affordable and were used by many British shooters will not export at all now.) Many small American outfits like Gary Eliseo in California (competition Shooting Stuff) who makes really good tube gun stock kits have simply given up. It is becoming increasingly common for notices to appear on the contact or ordering areas of websites to say 'no foreign orders' or words to that effect. My experience on contacting many US components suppliers of things like specialist scope rails is that they simply don't respond to emails from the UK. Understandable if frustrating, as they're busy people and responding to even a simple request is wasted time if they know they can't make a sale. The other reason why we can't get stuff is visible in this forum, and others like Savage Shooters - the American market for good quality and custom kit is really strong. Why do battle with the Washington bureaucrats to sell 10 items of something to Europe when you can sell everything you make to domestic customers and just need to ring up Fedex or UPS for a collection to get it on its way?

I would also look at the Manners T6a or T2a carbon elite stock they work really well.

A three month backlog is a sign of a healthy business! Six months is even better.

There is no MacMillian: it’s MacMillan and they will remain in business as long as they want because of the job that they do and the service they render. They do more for the competition shooter than most other companies.

Yes we are alive and well. Lead times on most stocks is 4-6 months, running about 10,000-12,000 stocks a year, we stay pretty busy.

@onelastshot, Please send me an email maxwell@mcmillanusa.com and I'll send over the instruction sheet and form to include with your action.
