Got a guys McMillian varmint stock that was inlet for a NBRSA heavy varmint taper that he's using a Palma taper barrel in. We want to fill in part of the barrel channel inletting to match the Palma taper and I'm wondering what the heck I could use to do that. I've done some fiberglass work in the past and the only thing that really comes to mind is wrapping the barrel in something around .080 to .100 thick then filling the channel with some kind of filler, using the barrel as a mold then touching up the top and front edges.

The stock will be dipped when it's done so I can use some kind of putty to smooth out all the exposed edges but I'm wondering what kind of filler I could use or if anyone had a better idea how to do this.

Thanks

Bondo, as well as others, makes a good fiberglass filler. And you could reduce the weight and make it easier to sand by incorporating micro balloons.

Thanks guys, I didn't even think about the Bondo glass filler, I think I may even have some of the micro balloon media sitting around from my days of messing with composite boats.
