MCM MBR Stock - Alterations..

I picked up a used MBR for a Rem SA, I would like to recontour the rear tang area to better match the "lines" of the action rearward to the hand grip area. Can I assume this is a solid pour area and that I should not run into any large voids or hollows?

I would not assume, most are shell with light fill inside. It may be like the forearm. But the buttend can hollow with light fill.
