McGowan Rimfire barrels ❓

Does anyone have any experience with McGowan 22 Rimfire barrels I am thinking about getting one and would love to get some feedback.

If they are anything like their centerfire barrels I wouldn't hesitate. I have a couple of their barrels on some Savage builds and they have been fantastic shooting barrels.

I agree also. I have one chambered in 224 Valkyrie on a Remington 700. Very accurate. Just ordered a 20 Vartarg from them.

I ordered two of them once,both had alot of taper in them. The slug would just about fall out the muzzle end bad. I would say a Green Mountain would be much better if they are still producing barrels like the two they sent me. Get a Benchmark,Shilen,etc if you want it to shoot.

My first one was my last one after slugging it. It was a 30 cal cf. It had very tight and loose places. VERY TIGHT. I could feel slight variations but the biggie was a tight spot that would stop the slug..SOLID! Literally had to tap it passed with a hammer. Now that's what I'd call a tight spot.
I dont run products down. This is just a fact about a sample of one.

I never had a 22 built by them but I had them build a 358 Norma Magnum on an 03 Remington action. Craftsmanship was superb, a 250 grain Hornady SP at 3,200 FPS 1" to 1 1/16" groups at 300 yards for many years and still as of last week.

If you are interested in a 22rf barrel consider mullerworks barrels . He makes some of the best.

I have one....... waited over a year to take delivery after ordering. They are nothing super special, shooting wise they are comparable to most ready available prefit barrels. I have run it both on a 10/22 and also in a PWS toggle bolt receiver. As others stated ...... WAY better barrel blanks by Muller,shillen,benchmark,lija.

If you feel you need to scratch the itch of having one PM me. I have a heavy varmint profile threaded 1/2 28 in stainless. Here is video with barrel on the PWS.
