Howa Mini 223, pencil barrel, free floated, vertical string the hotter it gets. Casual shooting, 15 shots in 30 minutes and it will get 4” high@100. Cool down for a couple of hours, first shot goes right back into the group.

I have plenty of good 223’s anyway and bought this for the action anyway.
Initially I had planned on barreling it up to a wildcat. I am looking hard at the 22Nosler and use the 6.5G/7.62x39 magazine, single shot would be fine also.

Prefered barrels is making a nut system for these, so thought I would give them a try. The offering of twist isn’t what I had planned on. 14,12 then jump right to 8.
I had planned on a 9 (they don’t offer 1-9)I have ran 40’s through 55++ grain bullets in other 9’s I have. Some of them will run heavier than recommended others won’t.

If I go to a 1-8 twist am I going to have RPM issues with 40-50 grain V Max and Speer TNT bullets running up to speed? I would like to be able to get up to the 69 grain if I wanted is why I just don’t jump on the 1-12 twist. Honestly 85% of the use will be 55 grain and under.

TIA
Jeff

I am concerned more with the fast twist with lite bullets causing problems. They go from a 1-12 to a 1-8. Nothing in between.

Majority of use will see 40-55 grain. It would nice to be able to run heavy is my only reason to go to 1-8. 1-9 is not in their offerings.
