Max length of .22BR case--1.56 or 1.52

My 6BR using R/P brass utilizes the NormaBR length of 1.56. I understand Remington originally had it at 1.52 then changed it to 1.56. My question is if I am using Rem 6BR brass that has a length of 1.56, will the .22BR be 1.56 or 1.52? The books show 1.52.

One of the best things to know is the "actual" length of your chamber. Most chambers are cut .010 to .020 over SAMMI specs.
The 22 BR is just a necked down 6 BR case. The specs for the 6 BR case is 1.560 for the max. trim length. Most of the newer chambers are cut for Lapua specs.
The "actual" chamber length on both my 6 BR and 22 BR barrels is 1.580. I use bushing bump dies and a Wilson case gauge. My brass doesn't grow. I havn't had to trim brass in a long time. My fired brass will drop back into the Wilson case gauge.
Set the length of your brass to where you want it. ;)

If the rifle is a Remington 40XB,like mine!) the chamber is cut for a maximum case length of 1.520. This is called a short chamber by JGS Chambering Reamers. They make a reamer for this type of chamber. The 1.560 is the SAAMI standard for the caliber. This makes for alot of case trimming when forming the cases,I did 1,000 of them this last time!)

Don't forget, the 22 BR is a wildcat. Don't depend on anybody's idea of what the CL should be,including mine). Make a chamber cast. I'm gonna bet that you won't find any case too long for the chamber.
