Mauser M93 and M95 Bolts

Can anyone tell me if the bolts from M93 Mauser and M95 Mauser are interchangeable? I've been told that due to a flat on the bottom of Spanish 93's they wont function in Chilean 95's or and vice versa.

I would think they would not interchange. I have a 93 with the flat bottom but don't have a 95 to compare.

If I remember correctly, the flat bottom bolts do not fit the round bolt receivers. I know I use to take flat bottom bolts and grid them to round bottom.

The flat bottom bolt will not work in a receiver made for a round bolt . Thats why , IF you have a flat bottom bolt and want to use it wfere a round bolt use to be , you need to remove the flats of the bolt that makes it a flat bolt . Just look at almost any modern bolt nose and make the flat bolt nose like that .

They're in effect identical apart from the breech-end of the bolt-body being machined to have a flat bottom and slightly wider sides just behind the bolt-face. This was done on the original M1893 in the mistaken belief that this feature was needed for the bolt to contact cartridge-heads sufficiently and reliably in a double-stack magazine (also introduced on this model), but soon dropped once shown that this wasn't so and that having a round profile right up to the bolt-face works just as well.
