Mauser M18

As a matter of fact, a shooter had a new Mauser M18 in 30-06 at Tomball about a month ago, sighting it in.
I helped him by spotting for him as he had a 4x scope mounted.

it’s a three lug, which gives a short throw. The bolt is a straight cylinder. The stock was a greyish black synthetic.

He had no trouble keeping five shots in 1 1/4 inches with the Federal ammo.

i shot a three shot group, and it kicked like a mule. The reason being that with the scope, I doubt it weighed more than 7 1/2 pounds. The ammo was Federal 180’s, I think.

The back of the stock had a removable recoil pad that housed a compartment.

This is a pure utilitarian hunting Rifle. I think he paid around $600 at Academy.

I just picked one up Friday at a midnight madness sale here in Down east ME. Chambered in 270 win. I have so much 270 components it was a no brainer. So far I am impressed. Threaded barrel so I can see a MB coming soon. It only weighted in at 6.7 lbs. I traded 6,000 primers for it and got $50 and the rifle.

I picked up a Mauser M12 Extreme Impact when Std. Manufacturing had them for $499. That thing is a hammer. I love the short 20" fluted barrel. I don't like the fact of the thermofit receiver though.
