Mauser 22 training rifle

Just bought a Mauser training rifle in 22 Rimfire. From about 1927?
Rugged and well made rifle.
Want to rebarrel the action to 17HMR with varmit barrel. Any thoughts on what barrel co. to use. Anyone rebarreled a rimfire before?
The barrel is pressed in and pinned. Will probably thread the action to screw the barrel in. Gun will be used for varmit hunting to 200 yards. (P-Dogs)

Brownells has barrels.You can also check the Green Mountain Co.and see what they have.I've rebarreled a few rimfires with good results.

Jerry, check and see if the .17 HMR (and .22 Mag) don't have a slightly larger rim diameter. I rechambered a T/C Contender from .22 lr to .22 Mag, so it didn't matter because of being a break-open, but on a bolt gun, see if you have to open the bolt face a little bit. The extractor should work. If everything else is O.K., it'll still be a single-shot though.

Interesting project. I'm a sucker for unusual rimfires.

As a collector ..I should say DONT DO IT..
Sell it and buy a new 22 bull barrell

Isn't the rim cut into the barrel ? I think the bolt is flat and the small difference is not an issue. I'm with fastback. Keep it original and buy a CZ.
