Math geeks please read

I am currently out of a chronograph. What I would like to get from one of you smarter than I am types, is a formula to figure velocity. Heres the scenario:

If I shoot dead on at 300 yards and have a known BC,.590)and I hit 5 inches high at 100 yards how can I figure the velocity?

Thanks

You don't need a math expert, you just need to go do some reverse-engineering: work back from what you know to find what you want.

Enter the known values in a ballistic calculator such as JBM and fiddle w/ the number until you get what you want.

Us "geeks" need more data. How far above the bore centerline is the scope centerline.

At 1.50" you're in the neighborhood of 2600 fps... at 1.75" is around 2570.

It is 1.75"

Can you show me how you came up with those numbers? I want to try that with several different bullets

Thanks

I will check that out, thanks!
