Does anybody know of any 300 yd or greater matches upcoming or during the winter?

I have a FTR .308 rifle and would love to shoot and have some fun after deer season. My rifle club only has 100 and 200 yd. Not awhole lot going on there in winter..

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

We are completing our 600yd. range at Columbus, WI.

I live in northern Indiana now, but I grew up in Wisconsin. My parents still live in Oshkosh. I'm usually up there on holidays, so it's not very conducive to finding matches.

I'd love to work in anything from rimfire sporter to XTC to F-Class when I'm there. Might even make a special trip now and then.

So if somebody has an answer to the original question, I'm interested in the answer too.

The most complete listing of LR matches I've found for WI is here http://www.wi-force.org/

Go to "Shooting Events" on the left side and then click "Highpower Rifle" under the Rifle Sports section. That will give you a pretty complete list of the matches available state wide. Not much left for this year, most of the LR stuff happens April-Sept and the matches are in Lodi or LaCrosse. XTC matches in Racine among other spots, but again not much left on the schedules.

gzig is on it. The WI folks have their poop in a group when it comes to shooting opportunities and organized shooting.

The is a thread here on this forum (Competition) that has a listing of ranges (I'll bring it to the top) for you to take a look at and if your interested I have compiled a non posted list of folks who offer their assistance to getting guys started and the ranges they shoot at. If your interested, PM me and tell me the area your interested in and I'll do my best to get you hooked up.

With that said, I know Bob Sebold shoots at Lodi and has publicly offered to help anyone interested in F-Class, getting started ate Lodi..

Rod..

Check into activities at the ISRA range just west of Kankakee, near Bonfield IL. Only 300 yards for high power but the activity during the season (April - October) has things going on nearly every weekend. Good smallbore & pistol ranges, but requires membership for full access: http://isra.org/range/

Thanks for the link to the WI-Force site. I'll be keeping track of that when it's updated for next year.

I've heard there are matches in Wabash. I'll have to look into that, it's only about two hours from my front door. Farmland is a bit of a haul though.

I'll have to check out some of the Illinois matches too.

Unrelated to the post, but I'm a member at ISRA and I'm pretty disappointed in how they're doing things there right now. I pay $350 a year to be a member there, and from apr-oct there's some kind of event almost every weekend that restricts my access to the ranges. There's boy scouts, highpower rifle, training classes, etc etc. These things are open to non-members. So basically I'm paying my yearly membership for other people to come shoot. It's great that they're helping people out and introducing kids to the sport, but I'd like to shoot too, considering I pay as much as I do. I've only been there one time this year because the few days that I actually have time, the ranges are closed for competitions. My favorite is the 300yd range, but 4 out of 5 times I want to go, there's an event on it for most of the day.

$350 for 2 or 3 range trips the whole year is worth it, eh?

I called the director to complain about it and he said he would reduce my dues for next year, But i'm strongly considering just quitting there and joining Aurora Sportsmans club, which has a 600yd range.

No matched at Lodi in the winter due to weather. We do practice on Wednesday AM when weather permits and its not hunting season(Soon). Also BIG 8 pointer running around on range this year!

If you are looking to take a little drive you might want to come up to Harris MN which is north of Minneapolis about 40 miles. Gopher Rifle and Revolver Club has a range with a reasonably active F-class schedule focusing on the long range end of things.

Here is a link to our schedule http://www.grrc.org/events/

Any questions you can PM me

We finished filling the 600 yard berm with sand and set the benches last Saturday.
A final OK by the town board and we should be good to go.

We have a 600yd range in Wausau, WI. at Duane Corbin Shooting Range Park run by Marathon County Rifle and Pistol Club. They have 3 annual non registered matches, June, July August. Benchrest group shoot 5 shot. Need more info conact me at 715-551-9735 Mark.

The last guy that ran the matches at Wausau met a very untimely demise.

Wausau is likely the prettiest range in the state, bar none and the targets are the easiest operating of any range I have shot at in the country. Just wish they'd have built the range facing north.

Go to the board meeting. Lots of people complain, but no one takes time to tell the board at a meeting.

I am a member of the ISRA as well and have been for over 25 years. When I joined if I remember correctly they limited the membership to 400. In the last few years they have raised membership to 2000. With the added membership and the other scheduled events sometimes I feel like I need to make a reservation to shoot. IMO they need to look at this and think about the average member/shooter that just wants to go to the range and shoot just to find out the range he wants to shoot at is closed.
