Match Rifle Transport Cases

I have several long range match rifles now with 29-32" barrels, and they don't fit in any cases that I am aware of.

Curious what brands/types of cases [hard or soft] you all are using for your long length guns?

Id like to get a Pelican [or comparable] but not sure these guns are going to fit even on an angle...

I use a Plano FieldLocker double extra long case for my F-open rifle (30" barrel). Made 'almost' as well as a Pelican but survived air travel just fine. I understand SKB makes a longer rifle case also.

I use a Kalispel aluminum double scoped rifle case from guncases.us. It is 51" inside and easily fits my
F Class rifle with a 30" barrel. I believe they also make one with 54" interior. The single scoped rifle case is a little cramped width-wise.

For air travel, you could separate the barreled action from the stock. That makes everything fit nicely and creates less stress on the stock.

SKB is what I use. The airlines haven't killed it yet.. Eight trips.. Tommy Mc F-class 30 in. tube..

I have a Winchester aluminum double rifle case with egg shell foam inside, and double combination locks on the outside. It also has a retractable handle and two rollers to pull it around an airport. I am no longer able to travel on hunting trips. Would sell it reasonable if anyone is interested.

The Plano mil-spec field locker is the only one I found that will hold 2 F-Open with 32” barrels (barely)

I have a McMillan F Class Stock with 30” Barrel that fits into a Pelican 1750 with 1/2 an inch to spare.. Pelican also do a 1770. Tough case with wheels which is very handy at airports when carrying other luggage..

Cheers Rushty

I have an old aluminum AmeriCase out in the shop. It holds two long guns standing side by side. It has survived three trips to Africa with no issues. I had it coated with Rhino bedliner in black before my first trip. It makes me feel better not seeing the dents and dings airlines put on them. My first trip, my PH told me to scoop a small handful of dirt up and put it in the case in a small ziplock bag. He told me it would bring me back to Africa. And, it has twice, to date.

I use a Pelican 1750 with Kaizen Foam. You have to break down the stock and barreled action, but it is very safe and perfect for airline travel.

30" Bartlein in a McMillan F Class. Plano Gun Guard case with Kiazen foam. The case seems very sturdy. I've not flown with it but would not be concerned about doing so. Inside dimensions are 12.5" x 51".

I second the field locker. Why pay pelican prices?

I have several Pelican cases in addition to the large Plano Field locker. The Pelican has more rigid plastic that does not distort near the sealing surfaces; the Plano warps slightly at the seal edges and thus is not 'air-tight'. The wheels are not as robust as a Pelican. However, Pelican does not make a case that will fit an assembled F-class rig with a 30" barrel. I do like both cases but I can see a quality difference...perhaps not near double the price quality difference!
