Match Rifle Gunsmith in Iowa

I've recently taken the plunge and acquired a 6.5-284 dedicated long range match rifle. This thing is going to chew thru barrels faster than anything else I've ever had. I am not a gunsmith nor have the tools to do it.

I am curious who folks use [and trust] with match grade re-barreling work in the eastern Iowa area?

Gonna be hard to go wrong with Ryan Pierce....Piercision Rifles. In Northern IA. He's not done work personally for me, but has done alot for my friends (who kick my a$$). Drew

This is something that has always had me scratching my head. The USPS an UPS can deliver your stuff about anywhere than driving someplace to hand it to a gunsmith. Not saying that the Iowa smiths are lacking. I always choose the best and ship them out if it is something I don't do.

Couldn't be your friends are just better marksman than you are, could it?

They are.

Just too many of his rifles are in the hands of World Champions (FOpen and FTR) including the current FTR LR National Champion and last months BSWN FOpen winner to ignore.....

I've got an XP I need a barrel screwed on. Have you have Mike do barrel work for you and if you did, how did he do? Thanks
Mike did bed job for me on a 6PPC, a good friend of mine has had 3 barrel jobs done and all work is good. He is small shop works in building at his house property. I know of 3 people used him and no complaints.

Thanks for the report. Nothing is going to get any closer than Ia City for me. Were in there a couples times a week for groceries and other business.

Do you know anyone that has had Jim C at Bellevue doing any barreling?. I know he does a good job on bushing dies but I don't know anyone that has had him spin on a barrel. I Could always take the wife for a little ride up the river.

Jim C out of Bellevue - He is a short range benchrest guy and I have not been in that crowd for a year now. His skills is top notch and he would be my first choice for barrel work if he has time. Since I don’t know how busy he is I also added Iowa City Smith Mike S to contact. Ryan is also well known and yes I know of few guys that have builds by him. He could be an longer lead time then Mike.
