Masterpiece Arms BA Chassis- Any comments?

Is anyone using the MPA BA chassis? Any feedback, good or bad? What do you think of the built-in level? I'm considering one of these, but haven't heard much about them.

Wanted to order one but couldn't get it shipped to Australia thanks to those wonderful ITAR laws, I mean seriously, it's an aluminium chassis, not a bloody grenade. A few people over on the 'Hide speak highly of them and they're getting a decent run in the PRS scene.

They do get a significant amount of press but it appears to maybe be where you aren't looking. I find that is true with quite a few new products so I have to continually check several websites in order to get a better picture of the new and upcoming products are. As mentioned above, I found this to be a product which gets more notice from PRS and the 'Hide than from other sources.

I have one and like the ergonomics of the entire chassis, it fits me properly without any fussing, especially the cheek weld. The monopod is a favorite of mine when shooting prone and the BA has one included.

"-Our Chassis take any AICS type magazines (Mag not included). See related products for magazines for your chassis.
-5.2 lbs
-This unique chassis system provides a super precision platform for the Remington 700 Short and Long, Savage and Howa Short or Long Actions, Badger M2013, Mausingfield, Surgeon, Stillers, Surgeon and many others. New inlets are being added frequently."

Here is the only drawback in my opinion, 5.2 lbs. It can be pretty heavy especially when you place a maximum size barrel (M24) in the chassis. The only one I know of that is heavier in the APO SABER®-FORSST® (folding rifle stock system tactical) Modular Rifle Chassis system which weighs in at 5.75 lbs. complete but without the monopod added. Heavy or not, this chassis (MOD-1) is even more comfortable for me to shoot than MPA BA, I just don't use it for offhand shooting. I use it primarily for prone shooting or position shooting in the field, both off a bipod.

The MPA BA can be ordered with a side folding buttstock, whereas on the APO MOD-1, the side folder is standard. Both of these excellent chassis can be purchased in a lightweight version as well.

Thanks for the input! What do you think of the built in level? Does it work well by itself? Do you still use one on your scope?

I use one mounted on my scope because I'm used to looking for it there. It isn't convenient when I have to look up then down into the protective pocket to see the level. However, I am trainable so if I just start leaving the scope level off then I'll have to get used to looking in their pocket. In a slower, methodical style of shooting, it's not bad but a faster pace would be trickier for me.

The level in the back of the Spuhr mounts is placed properly for me.

Regards.
