Marsh Action Fans

If your ever in Phoenix, you should call Doc Marsh, he will give you a tour of his facility. They are currently working on a redesigned bolt, made out of different stainless, and They should be ready pretty soon. I am at the Ben Avery Shooting Complex now. Your fluting work is beautiful as Paul, funny my Marsh action bolt was already fluted that one you did must be one of the early actions, possibly a Dave Kiff manufactured bolt!

Marsh bolts are not manufactured by Dave Kiff, and the reason is Kiff could not not meet the demand even though he agreed too! Doc bought another Hass CNC macines that is dedicated to making bolts. The first group of bolts in Marsh actions were made and delivered by Dave Kiff! Doc Marsh has been making his own bolts I believe 2014, I can ask him tomorrow when I see him if you really need to know the specific date!

Evidently, Doc Marsh has added to his equipment list. The last Saguaro action I purchased was mid 2015. Though Doc Marsh had the actions on the shelf at the time, he was waiting for a batch of bolts from Dave Kiff, which created a 3 week delay. He did, at that time, have 2 pieces of HAAS CNC equipment. A ST-10 and a VF-2SS. Perhaps he decided to start producing the bolts himself.

Well I was with Doc earlier today and he showed me the new bolts 17-4 stainless, the bolt handle, is laser welded on and he is manufacturing the bolts and outsourcing the laser welding! You can't see the weld at all, and the new bolts are not fluted, but the fit is much tighter. He had 5 bolts at his reloading trailer and 16 more will finish up this week. Finally this should answer any lingering questions about the bolts from The previously discussed supplier, there are currently 137 bolts that are not usable, due to tolerance problems?
That's a significant financial outlay for bolts that don't fit! Doc said this new bolt has been in development for16 months and the Cost of R&D is quite expensive!
