Marlin rifles

I bought one for an employee as a Christmas present. It was a .270 Win. It surprisingly wasn't bad for the money. I put a cheap scope on it and it shoots well for a hunting rifle. Here in Mn, most shots are less than 100yds. Would make a great truck or camp rifle as a back up.

I have shot and loaded for a 308 and 270. The 308 would group slightly under 1" with 150 gr bullets. The barrel was somewhat rough and coppered up pretty good after about 10 rounds.
The 270 shot down to about 1/2" and was much easier to clean.
Still, I think the rifles are a good value for the price. Good for a first rifle or for someone that only shoots a couple of rounds each year hunting.

If you look at my other posts you will see the pics of my rifle that was built on one of the new marlin actions, it is really a good starting point to keep the costs down on a build.

i looked at a short action at local shop, bolt was well guided was as slick as a broken in m70 ,has floating bolt head decent trigger, bolt moves under rear bridge so clip slots can be cut ,i called and checked has same barrel threads as small savage with same type locknut so i am shopping for the best price should be under 300 bucks i have a stock and barrel, hah just what i need another match rifle .o well putting it togeather and working up loads will keep me occupied for a while.
