marlin jammed

I really should put this on the Marlin forum but I couldn't get past the sign in.
So - Was checking zero on my Marlin 30A 30-30 and after two shots the gun failed to feed. I ejected the empty and got the last cartridge out but now the bolt is all the way back (not jammed) and the lever is all the way down and won't move. In the shop I have a large selection of hammers and crowbars but I'm thinking there must be a better way.

SOUND LIKE A CARRIER OR LOCKING BOLT BLOCK PROBLEM IT GOTTEN OUT OF TIME SOME WAY DO YOU HAVE TO FORCE THE CARTRIDGE OUT DURING THE BOLT CYCLE WAS IT TIGHT

coocoo I don't know what victor is but I found the problem anyway. There was one more in the mag tube which had just barely gotten on the elevator. So the elevator was up against the cartridge rim and neither one could go anywhere. Removing the mag tube and shaking the goodies out solved the problem. Man-o-man that's a long spring. Back in business.

See, you learn something new every day. Now, do you know what caused the gun to jamb? Short stroking the lever will do that. Don't ask me how I know, nor how many times I have done that. Short stroking a lever action, to keep the brass from flying 6 feet, is not always smarter than just working the action properly and walking the 6 feet to chase the reloadable empty.

One of the main marlin repair guys was at my local GC one day. He had about 4-6 scoped 30-30's that he was testing at 50 yards.
Each one was clover leaf grouping. Very impressive to watch.
