March Scope ?

I am looking at the March 36-55x52 EP Zoom for 1000BR. They are on sale over at Bullets.com right now ......I was looking for a bit of feedback from any users of this scope. I am using a NF Comp now and it works A++. I kind of like the idea of the EP ( eye piece ) Zoom with your point of aim staying constant through power adjustment....... Or am i looking for an excuse to get a new scope ????

Sounds like looking for an excuse for a new scope. I have the NF Comp and agree that it is A++, i just got a deal on a used March 5-40x56 mil/mil so jumped on it because I wanted to try a March and this one filled a gap for me. The March are also very nice, why not try the 80x so it is more of a substantial change? I am not that familiar with EP zoom, so I'm sure I'm overlooking some scenario specific advantages, just my .02.

as the power goes up the eye relief get shorter. If you shoot free recoil or a big caliber you may bleed ……. lol…. I went with a 10-60 due to that….. jim

I have looked thru & shot both the 60X & 80X march BR scopes...Not much trigger time behind either...The first one w only a 2oz trigger really put me off... nice view at about 32 power & went off early, 3 times ...After a little coaching the 80X used at half power was a sight to behold...The picture was perfect..Compared to my Nightforce 32X set at 20X..same thousand yard targets...Pricey, maybe but I think you will be happy with any March brand scope...Mike in Ct

From the EP Zoom manual - "The EP Zoom Scope integrates a specially designed device with the March 50x52 BR Rifle Scope, eliminating the mechanically induced shift in POA during zooming which is inherent to all other zoom scope designs."

In my own experience - conventional zoom mechanisms are integrated into the erector assembly and when adjusted for power also tend to cause changes in parallax adjustment which is not the case with the EP Zoom as it uses an adjustable power eyepiece (ocular) with the zoom being done behind the plane of the reticle so that the parallax adjustment remains fixed.

I primarily use the zoom feature of my EP Zoom to get a better impression of what the mirage is doing without disturbing parallax or POA.

Thanks for your input, I think the EP Zoom will be the one for my 17lb BR gun. I do not shoot free recoil and i am a large human so keeping things put are not a problem........Thanks Again

Best Regards
Rick

Great Scope, and the tracking on this scope is as good as money can buy.
