march 8-80 reticle help needed

I am running MTR-2 in my HMs. However, I am now considering purchasing a 8-80 sfp scope and wondering about a new reticle.
I am looking at two totally different reticles for F-class:

MTR-4
and 1/16

1/16 seems to provide very clear picture of the target, however it is more difficult to adjust the POA using the reticle- you have to dial the adjustments using turrets. Not a big deal though. In 99% of cases I do the latter.

MTR-4 seems similar to the new MTR-WFD and might theoretically may help with adjusting the POA without dialing. Not sure about that and thus will be grateful for your input.

My March-X 5-50X56 started life 11 years ago with the MTR-2 reticle. My eyes were younger then and it was similar to the NP2DD in my erstwhile NF NXS 12-42X56. 7 years later, it made a quick trip to Japan to get the reticle changed to an MTR-5 as my then mid-60s eyes could no longer see the reticle dependably. The following year, I acquired a March-X 10-60X56HM with the MTR-5 reticle and that served we very well so far.

The MTR-4 is not a reticle with which I have experience. I even had to go see what it looks like at the March website. I would guess that it would work fine in F-class, but it is not designed for it, unlike the MTR-WFD in the Majesta.

Since you are looking at the March-X 8-80X56, you should be aware that there are essentially 2 models of that riflescope: a wired reticle model and an etched reticle model. Whichever one you buy, you can only swap out the reticle for the same type; you cannot cross the streams, sorry, cross the reticle types. So if you get the MTR-4 reticle, it can be swapped out for the other MTR reticles (but not the Majesta reticles). If you get the 1/16 dot, you can get it swapped for any other dot size or the other wire reticles, such as the diplex and the crosshair. I seem to remember that the 3/32 is a popular size for the benchresters and the F-class shooters with the wired reticle. It all depends on your visual acuity and age. March scopes last a long time, and human eyes change over time.

The MTR series is as follows:
MTR-1 is a floating crosshair. The equivalent in the W series (for the Majesta) is the MTR-W0.

The MTR-2 and MTR-5 are identical in design, but the MTR-5 is double the thickness of the MTR-2. The center dot is double the diameter of the MTR-2's central dot. The equivalent wide-angle reticle for the Majesta would be the MTR-W2.

The MTR-3 is the same as the MTR-1, but it doesn't float, it has solid bars from the end of the 4 stadia lines to the lens.

The MTR-4 is the same as the MTR-5 except that it has a solid line from the end of the three stadia lines to the edge of the lens. It also has a circle around the floating center dot. Center dot is the same size as the MTR-5.

The MTR-FT is designed for Filed Target (airgun) competition.) The equivalent wide-angle reticle for the Majesta is the MTR-WFT.

The MTR-D2 and D3 are more solid lines with no hash marks. The D2 has a circle around the center dot.

The MTR-RTM is a reticle with a number of concentric circles. It's designed for round targets, mainly indoors (no wind). So airgun. It also works for ISSF comps to 300meters.

The MTR-WFD for the Majesta has no equivalent in the non wide-angle series. This reticle was designed from the ground up for the Majesta's wide-angle eyepiece and F-Class competition.

Since there is no wired version of the Majesta, the W-Dot is an etched reticle with a simple crosshair and 3/32MOA (at 40X) dot.

The MTR-W1 is also a new MOA-based design for the Majesta.
