I just saw on Optics Planet that the March 40-60 High Master has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Any scoop on the reason? New model, didn't sell, etc..

looks like the old glass that is NOT the super ED glass is discontinued???this page doesn't show the 40-60 as discontinued:
this page says "discontinued":
and lists these models:

Obviously, very little about this subject.I would think there would not be much of a market for that power range. But what do I know.

Well, that's an interesting dilemma. I purchased one and received it Xmas eve. Was on Optic Planets website and saw that it showed as being discontinued. Packed it up and returned it Tuesday. Guess I'll give them a call and see if they will just send it back. Scope looked great!I checked with Deon and, as I suspected, the rumor is wrong. "Planet Optics" is confused. Optics Planet is no better, the March 40-60X52 EP Zoom is not being discontinued. As a rule, never believe what you read on the internet at non-manufacturer websites.
The March 40-60X52 EP Zoom is a highly specialized optics aimed (pun intended) at shooters who require some zoom capability but want total guarantee that the POA will not shift while zooming their non-FFP scope.
The 40-60X52 zooms the fixed image using the eyepiece. This is highly prized by benchresters as there will not be ANY shift in POA while zooming in and out.
To the OP, I think it would be "a good thing (tm)" is you modified or updated the subject line since this is fake news.
It's an amazing scope, and as I explained earlier, it's a very specialized riflescope. Deon is very proud of that scope, which is why it has Super ED lens elements, along with its sibling the 48X52 model.Well, that's an interesting dilemma. I purchased one and received it Xmas eve. That is correct. Something has to move to get the magnification and since the eyepiece is the mechanism that is used to increase said magnification it has to grow a little. On the other hand you have the utmost guarantee there will be NO POA shift throughout the zoom.Great scope for Mid or Long range BR.
Eyepiece did take a little getting used to for me as it can affect eye relief adjustment so I would take that into consideration with initial setup.
